The event was dominated by the youth enjoying themselves, drinking different types

of alcohol. The bar man made sure that he never disappoints. What was surprising

that day is that the bar man made so many mocktails and that proved that the event

was huge and even people that are not alcohol consumers were part of the event.

“I was very happy to be attending the Last picnic before winter event because I got a

chance to see the DJ’s and little-known artists around Pretoria performing live,

nothing felt wrong or went wrong on my side,” said Sthandiwe Dludlu who attended

the event.

The significant spirit was brought by the different DJ’s and little-known artists. Ms

Nelly Mawaza was the first performer, and she was welcomed warmly by the crowd.

The second performer was DJ Karri who played ama piano and a mix of cultural

music and the crowd loved it.

Dr Malinga the king of the stage was the third performer, the crowd went crazy

seeing his performance. His performance was followed by DJ Ennyman da quitar,

Jaivanne, Kaygee, Gummy, Jayzoul, and many more.

Reakgile Mabasa who was part of the event said, “I had so much fun at Sunday

Rose Picnic, I shined with my sundress with my friends sitting with a cooler box

enjoying our drinks.”

Thanks to the artists because they made sure that the stage remained hot. It was

more like a competition amongst themselves, with the bubbly host Thato Deep who

made sure that guests were entertained.

Kagiso Mudau said that she has nothing to complain about, she is happy with

everything because she enjoyed herself. She further said that she does not regret

spending her money to this incredible event because she also got a chance to see

her favourite artist Dr Malinga.

The event was great because it accommodated everyone. People were able to

present themselves with their favorite colors and wear anything that made them

feel comfortable without having to worry about a theme that could restrict others.

An exciting netball tournament between Shaka and Little Manhattan residence that took place at Shaka residence on the 11th of March 2023. This tournament took place at 12h00 and ended at 13h00 with four quarters fifteen minutes each quarter.

Shaka residence players were impressed after they scored draw on the first quarter.

Students from residences were cheerful for the game even though Shaka residence didn’t have so many supporters. The game started on a good but ended on a bad one because players played rough.

On the first quarter both teams scored eight goals, leading to a draw for both teams. It was a pity that Little Manhattans player Thulile Xulu fell on the ground while they were playing for the first fifteen minutes, then she was substituted with Ethel Moloi.

On the second quarter, scores were different with Little Manhattan scoring eleven goals while Shaka residence scored eight goals.

Little Manhattan was more energetic on the third quarter because their coach Mr Obakeng Baloyi was giving them advice after each quarter. The team scored more than their competitors again.

Here is the video of an amazing netball match between Little Manhattan and Shaka residence:

“The game was unfair because Shaka residence players were not disciplined, so the game was very hard and the was no team work on Shaka residence players,” said Ms Tebatso Magajane the Little Manhattan empire.

Shaka residence coach Mr Sfiso Mabena said,’’ I am not happy of the game because I feel that my team is robbed because our empire is an amateur still learning, so some of the faults done by Little Manhattan are not recognised.”

The forth quarter was no childs play because both teams wanted the rewards.

Mr Mabena said that his team was strong because of Prince Nkabinde the Goal Keaper (GK) of the team. At the end of all four quarters both teams had a draw of twenty-four goals, that gave each team one point.

The tournament continued after Shaka residence played with TCE(Soshanguve North campus) then Little Manhattan won both the price and medals as a reward of playing the tournament.
